Wednesday Wisdom from Teiwaz

This morning, while drinking my cuppa joe, I was perusing Instagram. I came across a post from Lisa Congdon, an artist that I admire and follow. She was promoting a card deck that she illustrated in collaboration with Andreea Niculescu. The deck is called The Live Your Values Deck, and it looks like a beauty! My heart/mind connection zinged with happiness. One of the #1 themes that I talk about with both my coaching and my professional counseling clients is value-based living. It’s a great passion of mine.

When I sat down to draw our rune for the week, I was still thrumming with delight. I reached into the rune bag, and what to my wondering eyes should appear but Teiwaz, a rune that is all about standing up for our values - standing up for what is “right” in the moment knowing that it won’t be easy.

Teiwaz is a Warrior rune associated with the god, Tyr. It’s not an easy rune, but it’s a strong rune. Teiwaz says, “Honey, it’s time. There’s a thing that needs doing, and you may be the only one that can do it right now. Maybe you’ve been standing back, watching. Maybe you’ve been a little timid, a little mouselike. Well, that time has passed. It’s time to stand up for what you believe in. It’s time to put both feet on the ground, right under your hips. Stand tall with your chest open, and say what needs to be said. Do what needs to be done. Yeah. There might be some fallout. Sure. But if you don’t stand up right now, when will you?”
